Requirements

  • Active WPI account
  • Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) configured
  • Proper date, time, and timezone set on device
  • Macintosh OS X 10.5 through 11.2 are supported. 
    • While later versions are enabled, they may not be supported day one.
  • Safari or Firefox is required for the automated installation process. 
    • Other browsers are not supported.
  • Java 1.7 or greater is required for Macintosh OS X 10.5 or 10.6
  • You will need the administrative user and password for your computer.

Certificate Expiration

When you connect your device to the WPI Wireless Network, you are installing wireless certificates to your device. These certificates expire one year after setup. If your device was previously connected to the network, but not working now, you may need to renew your certificates. To renew your certificate, you must go through the wireless setup process again.

Instructions

  1. Unplug your wired Ethernet connection.
  2. Connect to the WPI-Open wireless network.
  3.   Open your web browser to http://w.wpi.edu.
  4. Select Setup My WPI WiFi.
  5. Select JoinNow.
    • Please ensure that the proper device type and OSX Version is selected.
  6. Open the SecureW2 downloaded file.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Login with your WPI credentials.
  9. Continue to follow the on-screen instructions.
  10. Reboot your machine.

Once all steps have been completed you should be connected to the WPI Wireless network.

Troubleshooting

In some instances users may need to remove older WPI Profiles.

  1. To remove a profile use the Apple menu and select System Preferences.... 
  2. From the View menu in System Preferences, select Profiles
  3. Select each WPI-Wireless profile and click Remove
  4.  Once done, rerun the steps to setup the wireless network.
