It is common to receive requests for documentation electronically when you only have the hard copy. The application, Microsoft Lens, and some built in options on iOS and Android devices, provide an avenue to cleanly scan and upload these documents.

Office Lens

Microsoft Office Lens is an app for scanning files, photos, documents, receipts, whiteboards, and more!

Photos already in your camera roll, and photos taken of documents in real time, can be uploaded and edited on your mobile device, and exported to:

  • Photo Library
  • OneNote
  • OneDrive
  • Installed O365 Apps (Word, PowerPoint)

Photos can also be saved as PDFs and saved to your WPI OneDrive.

While this application meets the needs when it comes to providing electronic copies of a hard copy document, it is also great to use for taking photos in class or at conferences! Whiteboards can be uploaded and linked directly into your OneNote. Further edits and notations can be made to any document shared to your OneNote!

Install Office Lens

Office Lens is compatible with many operating systems, including Android, iOS, Windows, and OSX. Go to your device's app store to download the application.

Google Drive

Using Android, iOS, or a machine, you can leverage Google Drives Scan Documents capabilities to scan, upload, and save files as PDFs.

Detailed instructions on using Google Drive to scan documents can be found in View Instructions for Scanning Documents using Google Drive.

iOS Option - Notes
