“Value creation is the method for systematically identifying and addressing important unmet societal needs and creating superior, sustainable solutions. Value creation is how new innovations are developed.” - Glenn Gaudette, Biomedical Engineering.
About the KEEN Value Creation
The KEEN Value Creation workshop is offered both in a one-day workshop and a two-day workshop, open to staff, students and faculty.
Come to the workshop prepared with your team's initiative, whether it be a research project, a course, department value propositions, or educational projects. If you do not have a team, you can join another team or make a new team with other members of the workshop. Through the value creation process, teams will learn the difference between what makes something a good idea versus what makes an idea not viable in the real world.
The process of the value creation workshop is as followed:
- Each team drafts a value creation proposition for their initiative.
- Each team gives a three-minute presentation to the whole workshop group.
- The group as a whole gives feedback for each value creation proposition.
- Teams are then tasked with revising, sharpening, and clarifying their proposition
Overall, teams become more aware of why their initial plan might not work and how to improve it.
