Due to attacks related to the outbreak of COVID-19, phishing and the risk of compromised accounts has increased. As we all connect remotely, securing our connections to WPI is more important than ever. Phishers/hackers will not be able to change your password without an additional method of verification.
You will be able to reset your password yourself only if you have setup MFA.
Please confirm or set up methods of authentication. Office phone pertains to faculty and staff, but you should add as many authentication methods as possible to avoid being locked out of your account. All options are detailed in the Related Article.
Upon login to your WPI account, if you haven’t already, you will be asked to set up MFA and provide additional security verification information to protect your account if it is compromised. You can defer entering this information for up to 14 days after which, if your account is compromised and locked, you will be able to reset your password yourself only if you have setup MFA.
- You will not be prompted to use MFA when using your WPI account/email.
- MFA is required for Workday.
- When you do change your WPI password, you will be prompted to also authenticate through one of the methods you chose, to ensure it is really you.
