Introduction:

Registration for Major Qualifying Projects (MQP), Interactive Qualifying Projects (IQP), Pre-Qualifying Projects (PQP) and Humanities and Arts (HUA) Projects (Courses HU 3900 and HU 3910) uses eProjects 2.0. 

The process varies for Project Center and Non-Project Center projects.

Requirements:

Use WPI credentials to login to eProjects 2.0.

ID 2050 Registration
ID 2050 registration is managed by the Registrar's Office. Students do not register for ID 2050 via eProjects or Workday.
  • Project Center Directors/Advisors and their Students

    Advisor - Create Project and Assign Students

    1. Login to eProjects 2.0 to see your Dashboard. Under My Project Center Terms, choose your Project Center and your students should appear on the Members tab.  
    2. Create projects within the Project Center Term (only placeholders needed at this time).  In the Project Center  choose Terms, select the Term, click Projects then Add Project.
    3. Place students into the projects you believe they will be registered into. In the Project Center  choose Terms, select the Term, click Project Assignments

    Student - Register for Project

    1. Login to eProjects 2.0 to see the project on your Dashboard.
    2. Select the project, then click My Registration Request tab.
    3. Registration Request:
      • If there was no request already started, click Start Registration Request.
      • To modify an existing request, click Edit Registration Request.
    4. Enter the term(s), and units/credits desired. Click Next.
      • If this registration is for an off-campus IQP, you’ll likely need to register term(s) and units for a PQP as well.  Please click Add Reg Terms and Units again.  Select your academic term and units.  Then  under Unit Type select PQP.     
    5. When complete, send it to the Project Advisor(s) to review and approve by clicking Submit for Project Advisor Approval.

    Review incoming registration requests from students on your eProjects 2.0 Dashboard under Registration Requests Awaiting My Approval. Advisors will also receive an email linking directly to the registration request.

    • If approved, click Approve Registration Request and Send to Registrar.
    • If rejected, click Send Back to Student.

    Registrar - Review and Register

    Registrar staff will review the request and register the project and student details.

    Advisor, Student - Notification

    You will receive an automated email once registration has been completed. 

    Workday

    The Registrar will add the project to Workday. Please allow several weeks for the project to appear in the student’s Registered Courses. (Students do not need to take any action in Workday for Project Registration.)

  • Non-Project Center Advisors and Students

    Advisor - Create Project and Add Members

    1. Create a project (only placeholders needed at this time) using the menu Advisor  then Add Project.
    2. In the new project, use the Members tab to add Students to the project. Use autocomplete to find the students by name or username.
    3. Select Student as their Role

    Student - Register for Project

    1. Login to eProjects 2.0 to see the project on your Dashboard.
    2. Select the project, then click My Registration Request tab.
    3. Registration Request: 
      • If there was no request already started, click Start Registration Request.
      • To modify an existing request, click Edit Registration Request.
    4. Enter the term(s), and units/credits desired. Click Next.
    5. When complete, send it to the Project Advisor(s) to review and approve by clicking Submit for Project Advisor Approval.

  • HUA Advisors and Students

    Advisors and HUA Administrators

    Post scheduled HUA opportunities to the Project Opportunities page.

    • Choose Advisor > Add Project from the menu
    • Ensure the Advertising Status of the project is set to Advertising.

    Students

    Once a student finds an interesting opportunity, they may click the Request to Join button on the project. They will fill out a form detailing the previous courses they’ve taken.

    • Overload: If participation in the HUA will cause an overload for the student in the term the HUA is taking place the student must upload proof of approval in the form of a screenshot taken of an email from their academic advisor issuing approval for the overload.
    • Maximum 2 Active Requests: Students may only have 2 active requests to join a HUA project at any time. A student may rescind a request so that they may create another request. Requests may be rescinded by the student as long as the request has not already been registered. If the request has already been registered, then the student may modify their Registration Request and request cancellation of the registration.
    HUA opportunities at Project Centers:
    Please note these will not use the Request to Join feature and will instead rely on the existing application process of the Global Program for entry into off-campus opportunities. See the section on HUA Project Centers for more information.

    The student submits the form to the Advisor for approval, which will send an email notice to the Instructor of the HUA opportunity.

    Instructor - Review and Approve

    Options to View Requests:

    • The instructor may open the link in their email or visit their eProjects Dashboard to see Requests to Join that are awaiting their approval.
    • Project advisors/instructors may also navigate to the project and click on the Requests to Join tab to see all requests for that particular project on one screen.

    To review a Request to Join, the project instructor will review the form that the student filled out and can decide if the student is eligible to join the project. Instructors will please keep in mind the typical capacity of 12 HUA project students when approving students. All requests to join a HUA project are listed on the Requests to Join tab of the project so they may be reviewed.

    • The instructor may approve a student at which point the student will receive email notification and the request will be forwarded to the Registrar’s Office where the registration request for the student will be processed.
    • If the student was denied, the student will receive an email notification, and they may alter their request to try again, or rescind the request and find another opportunity to apply for.

    Registrar

    The Registrar’s Office will review registration requests from each student and register them for credit in the appropriate term.

    • If there are problems with the registration request (e.g. lack of appropriate overload proof, or other administrative issues) the Registrar will send the request back to the student for clarification.
    • If the student requested registration and was approved for more than one HUA opportunity, the Registrar’s Office will reach out to the student to understand which single option they would like to register for.

    Once a registration request has been processed by the Registrar’s Office the student will be added as a student member to the project in eProjects 2.0 and they will be fully registered for credit.

    Instructor, Student - Notification

    The student and instructor will receive email notification upon registration completion.

    HUA Project Centers 

    1. Opportunities for travel-based HUA requirement completion will be posted in eProjects 2.0.
    2. Students may browse the project opportunities to find one that they like and they can apply to the program during the normal application cycle (see Humanities and Arts Projects in Actions).
    3. After applications are reviewed, students will be informed of their placement.
    4. Faculty advisors and directors in charge of the HUA centers may add projects to their centers and place students into projects as desired.
    5. Once a student has been placed in a project, they may visit the Registrations tab of the project to start their registration request. Students are required to fill out information about their previous and planned courses taken to satisfy the HUA requirements.
    6. The student submits the form to the Advisor for approval, which will send an email notice to the Instructor of the HUA project.
    7. The instructor may open the link in their email or visit their eProjects Dashboard to see Requests to Join that are awaiting their approval. Project advisors/instructors may also navigate to the project and click on the Requests to Join tab to see all requests for that particular project on one screen.
    8. To review a Request to Join, the project instructor will review the form that the student filled out before clicking Approve, which will send the registration request to the Registrar’s Office.
