About
Most resources at WPI require authentication using email and password. WPI Information Technology provisions accounts for new students and new employees when joining the community. All users should take careful precautions to protect their log in information, including passwords and Multi-Factor Authentication devices. Members of the Information Technology staff will never ask to disclose passwords. Authentication to resources utilizes Azure Single Sign-On (SSO) which allows easy access without needing separate log in credentials for different services.
Users will be asked to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) upon first time log in to their accounts. MFA allows secure access to WPI resources by ensuring the application being accessed is by the owner of the account and not an unauthorized party. MFA also enables Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) so users can update or recover their passwords without contacting IT.
