About

Salesforce is a CRM used by several WPI Business Units to manage and maintain data. The three largest business units that manage their data and business process through Salesforce are:

  • UG Enrollment & Financial Aid
  • University Advancement
  • Graduate Studies

Salesforce can be used to analyze data through custom reporting, track events and tasks, and manage various objects, including Accounts and Contacts. This enables Salesforce users to build and maintain relationships with prospective students, current students, corporate partners, and alumni. Salesforce provides each business unit a detailed and holistic view of their contacts, with an effective way to track and manage communications, advertising, and registration.

Salesforce Access

Salesforce uses Microsoft Azure Single Sign-On and MFA for authentication, and therefore requires a WPI ID, WPI Email and Password.

Given the amount of sensitive data stored in Salesforce, WPI has enabled Multifactor Authentication (MFA) to ensure the data remains secure. IT recommends using the Microsoft Authenticator App on your mobile devices, especially when traveling abroad.

WPI has one Salesforce Production org and several sandbox orgs. The two main Salesforce Sandbox org’s we use (are called UAT, and Partial) are also wrapped in Azure SSO and require MFA. Users must be added to those sandbox orgs Azure security group in order to gain access. Once they have been added to the security group, users can login with their WPI email address and password, via the Azure SSO (Single Sign On) configuration.

Access requests can be made to the IT Service Desk by your manager or business unit Salesforce system administrator. See below Knowledge Base article for more details.
