Why?

Windows Hello for Business is a strong multi-factor authentication method that reduces the need to use the Authenticator app on a smart phone. It is an option employees can use for a simpler login and authentication experience for ITS-managed Windows devices assigned to individuals. 

Impact

Employees who have an ITS-managed Windows device may opt in to the Windows Hello authentication. Windows Hello is not available on podiums or lab computers at this time. Users will still need to use the Authenticator app or YubiKey to log into those devices.

Benefits

The Windows Hello options help make it easier and safer to sign into your PC because your PIN is only associated with one device, which is your security key on your specific device. It is also backed up for recovery with your Microsoft account. Employees can choose the login experience that best meets their needs.

Action Needed
