Why?

This Aruba networking code update contains various bug fixes, and this versionĀ  is required to support new hardware installation in campus buildings.

Impact

This informational notice is intended primarily for the small number of remote workers using an off-campus Remote Access Points (RAPs). These users will also be contacted directly. At some point during the maintenance, off-campus RAPs and on-campus Wireless Access Points (APs) will experience a brief outage.

Action Needed

Please plan accordingly as connectivity will be interrupted for five to fifteen minutes during the update. After the update, please follow the recommendations in "Details".

Details

The maintenance window has been scheduled to reduce the impact on RAPs, especially now that they host critical university telephones. The duration of the outage is typically five to fifteen minutes, depending on the speed of the home network the RAP operates on. After the update completes, users may notice:

  • The AVAYA Phone screen may blink and appear to reboot.
  • The two green lights on the side of the Aruba RAP may start blinking.
  • There is no user action required. The RAP and phone will reconnect as rapidly as they can.
