Hire New Faculty Process

After receiving Presidential/Provost approval, Deans will delegate the recruitment process for all approved positions to the appropriate Department Heads and/or program directors. Department Heads, in turn, will delegate the recruitment process for all approved positions to the appropriate search committee members, including a diversity officer.

  •  Work in concert with the Dean's Office to secure final approval of the Job Description 
  • Dean's office will submit the job description/advertisement to Talent & Inclusion.

  • Reach out to your recruiter to create a search committee.

  • Screen, Evaluate, and "Disposition" Candidates
Disposition Candidates
  • Conduct Interviews, Campus Visits, etc.
  • Perform Reference Checks
  • Extend Offer to Candidate
Offer Process

Once an offer has been accepted, please allow up to two weeks from the initial job requisition posting for the hiring to be processed. Before an employee can begin employment at WPI, there are many steps and business processes along the way that require approvals. Please check with your next approver to make sure the process is flowing swiftly.

Hire New Adjunct Faculty Process

For adjunct hiring, contact your Dean’s Office to determine your forecasted adjunct needs prior to hiring a new adjunct faculty member. Adjunct hiring does NOT require position creation.

  • The Dean’s Office will create a job requisition for each department to provide an available applicant pool for the department from one job posting. You may have multiple hires from this job requisition.

  • Reach out to your recruiter to create a search committee
Search Committees
  • Screen, Evaluate, and "Disposition" Candidates
